Saginaw Takes On Wichita Fall Rider In Bi-District Championship

Boy's Soccer - Tue, Apr. 3, 2018

After ending district play as Co-District Champions, the Saginaw Rough Rider Soccer season came to an early end in Gainesville against Wichita Falls Rider in the Bi-District Championship on March 29, 2018.

Saginaw took an early lead as Raphael Katende passed to Angel Ramos who finished it neatly under the diving goal keeper.  Wichita Falls Rider brought the score level in the second half after a mistake by the Rough Riders. Saginaw came right back as Jose Flores out worked the defenders and passed to Daniel Galvan who smashed the ball in to the net. Several more chances came as we pounded their goal and goal keeper, Saginaw just couldn't find the net.

Heartbreak as the referee ejected the team captain, and the team was lost momentarily.  Under three minutes remaining and Saginaw couldn't hold on. Wichita Falls Rider tied the game in regulation, 2-2.  The player looked to be offside but the call stood, the game went in to extra-time.  Rider scored late in the first half of extra-time to make it 3-2.  Saginaw almost stole the game back several times as they hit the post twice in the final minutes of the game.

It was a difficult loss for such an amazingly talented team. Final score, 3-2. "Congratulations to our boys on a great season, uou made us proud and won more games than any Saginaw soccer team ever." - Coach Yocom
